CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 11, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark volleyball team received 17 kills apiece from Cassie Luken and Comfort Akinbo as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 3-1, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both teams here Tuesday night.
 
The Scarlet Raiders (4-2 overall/1-0 NJAC) won by scores of 25-14, 16-25, 25-22 and 25-15.
 
Rutgers-Camden (2-5/0-1) collected 11 kills from junior outside hitter 
Jamie Mulligan, nine from freshman middle hitter 
Ava D'Ambrosio, seven from junior outside hitter 
Morgan Mulligan and six from sophomore middle hitter 
Emma Browning. 
 
Freshman setters 
Brinn Hassan and 
Kayla Benesz collected 20 and 19 assists, respectively, while Hassan and 
Morgan Mulligan (pictured above) both had three service aces.
 
Freshman defensive specialist 
Savannah Hayes had 22 digs, while 
Morgan Mulligan added 11 digs. 
Morgan Mulligan also had one solo block and one block assist, while D'Ambrosio notched a pair of assisted blocks.
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with a tri-match at Stevenson University. The Raptors play the host team at 12 p.m. and face Eastern University at 2 p.m.
