Rutgers-Camden women's tennis post NJAC sweep at Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. (April 16, 2025) –The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team wrapped up the regular-season portion of its New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule here Wednesday as it defeated William Paterson University, 7-0, in a makeup match rescheduled from last Friday.

The win lifts the Scarlet Raptors to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC and solidifies the Scarlet Raptors' position as the third seed in the upcoming NJAC semifinals. They will play at second-seeded Stockton University on Wednesday at a time to be determined.

Stockton defeated Rutgers-Camden, 4-3, on April 5 in Camden in their NJAC match, but the Scarlet Raptors won a non-conference home match, 4-3, against the Ospreys last fall.

William Paterson falls to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in NJAC play.

Rutgers-Camden swept the three doubles matches to pick up the one point for doubles. Freshmen Jilliane Jaugan and  Grace Albert posted a 6-0 victory at first doubles, while junior co-captains Katie Moore and Ashton Sirko posted a 6-1 win at second doubles. At the third spot, junior Bryn Kelleher and freshman Emma D'Amico posted a 6-1 win.

Jaugan, who was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week on Monday, posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, while Moore won her match at the second flight, 6-2, 6-4. Albert won at third singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Kelleher captured a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles. Sirko earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the fifth spot, while D'Amico swept her sixth singles match, 6-0, 6-0.

Prior to the NJAC semifinal match, the Scarlet Raptors will conclude their regular-season schedule with two more home matches. They entertain Trinity Washington University on Friday at 3 p.m. and host Bryn Athyn College on Monday in a 4 p.m. match.
