Raptors sweep NJCU on volleyball's Senior Night

CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 29, 2019) – The Rutgers-Camden volleyball team closed its season by sweeping New Jersey City University 3-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Tuesday night.
 
The Scarlet Raptors (13-15 overall, 2-6 NJAC) defeat the Gothic Knights (8-16 overall, 0-8 NJAC), 25-14, 25-14, and 25-16, on an evening when they celebrated Senior Night, honoring their trio of tri-captains, Jordan Erskine, Jamie Mulligan and Morgan Mulligan. All three players were four-year letterwinners.

Jamie Mulligan led the team with 10 kills, 11 digs, and three aces. Morgan Mulligan notched nine kills, 16 digs, and three aces, while Erskine added eight kills.
 
Sophomore Brinn Hassan tied for a match high with 19 assists and sophomore Kayla Benesz added 11. Sophomore Morgan Fox added nine digs and a match-high four aces.
 
The Scarlet Raptors' three seniors closed their stellar careers ranking among the program's all-time leaders in numerous categories. Jamie Mulligan finished tied for second in matches played (121), third in total attacks (2,843), fourth in kills (871), fifth in sets played (417) and 12th in digs (619). Morgan Mulligan finished fifth in total attacks (2,291), sixth in matches played (117), seventh in sets played (407), seventh in kills (786), 11th in aces (106), 10th in blocks (109) and 13th in digs (601). Erskine finished fourth in total attacks (2,335), seventh in blocks (142), ninth in kills (762), 10th in sets played (371) and tied for 10th in matches placed (111).
 
A trio of sophomores also finished their second season ranking among the program's career leaders, as Hassan owns 857 assists (fifth) and Benesz has 794 (sixth). Fox hiked her career total to 636 digs (11th).
