JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Oct. 19, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camdenmen's soccer team took plenty of shots against New Jersey City University here Saturday, but it took a sensational strike by sophomore forward
Nathan Biersbach to provide the game-winning goal.
Biersbach unleashed a 40-yard direct kick into the upper left corner midway through the 75th minute to lift the Scarlet Raptors over the Gothic Knights in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
The win lifts the Scarlet Raptors to 7-5-4 overall and 3-1-2 in the NJAC, raising their record in the all-time series against NJCU to 32-8-8. Rutgers-Camden is 17-0-3 in the series since their last loss to New Jersey City in 2005.
NJCU falls to 6-7-3 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
Rutgers-Camden had a 13-8 advantage in shots, including a 9-4 margin in the second half. NJCU had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Sean Boen made three saves to notch his eighth shutout of the season and the 26th of his career, second on the program's all-time list.
Gothic Knights freshman keeper Dominic Cunha also finished with three saves.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home NJAC match against William Paterson University.
